Service to Girl Scouting Bar Pre-Approval Request

This form is for Girl Scouts in the GSNYPENN Pathways council serving parts of New York State and Pennsylvania. If this is not your council, do not submit this form. Contact your own council for instructions.

Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Service to Girl Scouting Bars are earned by volunteering at least 20 hours at the troop, service unit, or council level outside of normal troop activities. You might volunteer your time for a Girl Scout special event for younger girls, be an office assistant for your council or service unit, or help them with special projects.

Note: This form is only for Service to Girl Scouting. Please use the Community Service Bar Pre-Approval form if you are requesting to volunteer with a community organization (not Girl Scouts).

Requirements to earn the Service to Girl Scouting Bar:

Council pre-approval.
Minimum of 20 hours of volunteer service within Girl Scouts.
Your supervising volunteer's signature on your typed time log or a signed verification letter accompanying your time log.
Complete the pre-approved service within one year of approval.

Hours spent on other leadership and mentoring awards (e.g., Highest Awards, Torch Awards) cannot count toward this service bar.

We recommend keeping track of your hours in a spreadsheet or Word document and ensuring that your volunteer either physically signs your log or provides a signed letter for you to attach to your final summary report.
