We receive a high number of applications. In order for our process to be a good fit for you, please confirm you agree to the following. All horses owned or under your care should currently be a Henneke body condition score of 5 and not greater than 6. If a horse is ill or has a condition (Colic, Cushing’s, etc.) causing a score less than 5 or greater than 6, You will need to be able to provide Vet records that the horse is under care for treatment of the condition. This includes horses too thin as well as too heavy. Please email us at equinerescure@live.com to discuss any question and to alert us if you currently do not own a horse at this time. OR this does not apply to you because YOU DO not owner horse right now. Are you asking them if they do not own a horse to contact you as well? If so perhaps add what I wrote in blue.
All horses owned or under your care have had a Professional dental float within the last 12 months. You will release your provider to allow a processor to call and verify floats have been completed. Please do not apply if your horses are out of date. Your application will not be processed or approved if proof is not provided. OR this does not apply to you because YOU DO not owner horse right now. Is this saying don’t apply if you don’t own? Or should it say If you currently do not own horses, this will not apply to you.
All horses owned or under your care has had a vet examination within the last 12 months. You will release your provider to allow a processor to call and verify care and condition. If you currently do not own horses, this does not apply to you.
All horses owned or under your care have had Farrier service every 4 to 8 weeks depending on the individual horses’ needs. You will contact your Farrier to give a processor permission to discuss care with the Farrier. If you do not currently own horses, this does not apply to you.
If you do not currently own or care for horses, you will provide small animal vet, animal names and contact the vet to give permission for a processor to discuss care of cats, dogs and other animals owned or under your care.
There is a $20.00 nonrefundable processing fee paid directly to the Processor for their time. The application will not be processed until this is paid directly to the Processor with the payment method agreed upon.
If you are a first-time owner or haven’t owned horses in so long that you do not have strong equine references (VET and farrier and a horse associate), understand you are required to board for 12 months and be a part of a lesson program at least twice a month. Check here or check if this doesn’t apply to you because you’re not a first-time owner and have needed references.
Heart of Phoenix takes horse care seriously. Applications that do not meet requirements or are incomplete will not be considered. You will not hear from our processing team
Make sure your submitted photos of your owned horses are current, full body and show hooves. Please make sure if you're submitting boarding facility photos, to include curent, full body shots of the horses at the facility

Verification of adequate income through documents like tax statements or pay stubs MUST be supplied. Include spouse/partner income only if that individual agrees to provide verification. Verification documents must include name and income. All other sensitive information (account number, social security number) should be blacked out. Heart of Phoenix encourages and will allow for a Pre-Adoption Exam at the adopter's expense to ensure that the horse should be able to perform to the abilities required by an adopter. You understand Heart of Phoenix does not allow resale or giving an adopted horse away and the we retain a lifelong First Right of Refusal for all adopted horses we always honor requiring horses to be returned to us if you cannot keep the horse. You understand we refund up to $800 of the adoption fee (if reqested) when a horse is returned to us healthy and UTD on all care, per our adoption contract, when that horse finds his/her next homeType I understand and agree

Once approved, this means you can adopt a horse suited to your skill level. We work hard to arrange meetings based on expected suitability between adopter and horse. Once you set up a time to meet a horse, the horse can be held at no cost for ONE WEEK only. If your appointment to set up to visit if more than 7 days out, you must cover hold/board costs of $10 per day in advance; otherwise, we will give opportunities to other approved adopters to meet the horse in the meantime. Your applications fee is paid directly to YOUR application processor. It is not paid to HOP. Your application process will reach out to you upon receiving the application, usually within 2 business days, to direct you on payment (via Paypal, Check via Mail, depedning on what works for you). Processors are typically Rachel, Suzanna or Tanya. All processors are approved by Heart of Phoenix to screen our applications.

Applications, once entirely complete, are reviewed by the full Heart of Phoenix adoption panel.
