Becoming an Agility Student at Dog Gone Smart

Thank you for your interest in joining our Agility Program at Dog Gone Smart! Novice is the only level we offer that accepts new students into our Agility program. Our Agility curriculum is designed to be ongoing, so many students continue attending and enjoying this wonderful activity with their dogs for several years or longer! That is why we do not always have enough hours in the day to add Novice sessions for new students, so there is a waitlist to join this program, but the good news is that once you are in, you are in, provided you and your dog are successfully and satisfactorily participating. So here is what you can do to get ready to register for the next time Novice opens up in our portal. Your dog MUST meet the prerequisites in order to be able to register.

Pre-Requisites: Completion of Foundation 2/Level 2 Obedience Course IN A CLASS ENVIRONMENT.

The prerequisite for this class is that dogs must have had a minimum of 2 levels of good manners classes, equivalent to Foundation 2 in a class environment. Previous group class completion is required as it is very difficult for dogs, who have never been in classes with other dogs in close proximity, to focus on their handlers. In order for everyone in class to be able to enjoy the experience, dogs need to be comfortable and quiet while waiting their turns, as other dogs are running the course. Dogs run the course off leash so must be safe and reliable around strangers and other dogs and in your good control.
