Group and species identification is critical to receive accurate advice.  If you do not know which group to select, please call PAWS Wildife Center at 425-412-4040 for more tailored assistance.

If we do not answer, leave a message, and we will return your call within four business hours.  If you do not hear back from us after four hours, please call again in case of human or technology error.  Do not bring the animal to PAWS Wildlife Center without getting further instructions because admission may not be necessary depending on the species and situation.

While you wait, please remember the following:

If you’ve already captured the animal, keep it in a secure container with a lid and air holes.  Keep the container in a warm, dark, and quiet location away from people and pets.  Do not offer food or water.  Provide additional heat such as heating pad on low under half of container if location is cooler than room temperature.

Only in very rare circumstances is a 4 to 12-hour delay in care the difference between life and death, so do not panic.   Avoid disrupting the animal to check on them as this often results in accidental escape, stress and/or wasted energy.

Alternatively, your question may pertain to critters that are outside the scope of our wildlife center such as invertebrates, fish, insects, bugs, bees, etc.  In these cases, we recommend searching for an organization that specializes in these creatures.

There are many paths to becoming a wildlife rehabilitator and many different versions of being a wildlife rehabilitator.  Some are career rehabilitators working in a large wildlife center while others rehabilitate animals in a more home-based setting.  One thing is consistent regardless of the path: you must seek the appropriate education and permits before you start to prevent undue harm and legal consequences.

Find more details on our website.
