Moving beyond “following the trail” and into the real-world skills of finding your way as an expedition team. Girls will practice the foundations of navigation in a hands-on, challenge-based format, using maps, identifiying features, following bearings. All with a lot of teamwork and laughter!
The boys will practice the foundations of navigation in a hands-on, challenge-based format: reading topographic maps, identifying terrain features, orienting a map, taking and following bearings.
Worley’s is incredible with so many places to explore, cave features to learn about, mud to play in, tight crawls to challenge themselves with = epic fun! (8.30am – 5.00pm) Tuition includes the $10 cave entry fee
At the TAASC climbing gym in Morganton – This is a great opportunity for the Redwoods to climb, boulder, rappel, prusik, belay and challenge themselves. There are plenty of other fun activities to add to the mix like slacklines and going up into the tree house, and potentially rappelling out of it! (9.00 am Sat – 3.00 pm Sun)
A super fun day on a beautiful granite playground. Boys will learn the fundamentals of bouldering: how to move safely on rock, use balance and footwork, “read” a climb like a puzzle, and spot for one another with focus and care
Great opportunity to get out together to share an amazing experience in the wilderness! We'll be planning this trip with the students at the meetings
This is an amazing opportunity for these girls to get out on a backpacking trip. They will learn so many skills and it's so much fun sharing this experience with friends!
We're going into Pisgah for a great day on the rock. The boys can help set up the anchors and rappel management - we'll work on these skills at our meetings to get everyone ready.
The girls will utilize their navigation skills in real time have fun playing in the creek and all the other goodness of a day out on the trail with friends!
These guys are ready for a real backpacking trip! We'll be backpacking in a short distance and then setting up camp and heading off for a day hike. The boys will learn so many camp craft skills on this trip - we highly recommend it!
The Aspens will spend the day climbing the southside of Looking Glass Rock, one of the most iconic climbing areas in Western North Carolina. It's going to be an amazing day of granite, laughter and friendship
This is a key trip for skill development and great practice for the summer trip, plus it's so much fun and amazing to be out in the wilderness with friends. Location will be posted soon

Canoe expedition on Lake Jocassee, exploring this crystal clear lake and it's beautiful waterfalls. On the final day we're doing a service project in Brevard. Full tuition is $790 with a $200 deposit to signup (non-refundable unless another student takes your spot)
