'Tacoma' Friends of Palestine's mission is to act and stand in solidarity with the Palestinian People and Resistance against the systems of white supremacy, colonialism, and imperialism.
Every member of TFoP agrees to abide by the following code of conduct. Violation of this code shall result in a group discussion and action plan to prevent further violations as we recognize we are all doing our best to deprogram from the systems that oppress us and the process of deprogramming is never ending. It is important that we create a safe space for all of our members. More than three violations of this code may result in expulsion from the organization pending a vote, while egregious violations may also be the basis for immediate removal.
1. We do not strive for amicability, to be nice for the sake of it. We strive for justice, and there can be no justice without love. Love is the heart of the struggle for liberation, for love and oppression cannot coexist. We agree to move with love in all of our actions; love for ourselves, for our fellow members, and for our community. This means actively fighting against racism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, and all other forms of discrimination, and being intersectional.
2. We agree to be honest with each other. This means not knowingly lying or being misleading, including lying by omission. This also means being honest about our capacity and accessibility needs.
3. We agree to move with integrity. This means we do not knowingly sabotage, discourage, or otherwise harm our mission or organization materials.
4. We agree to take responsibility for our emotions. Our emotions are valid and it is our responsibility to express them in ways conducive for collaboration. This means we do not use insulting or degrading language.
5. We agree to trust one another and take each other's actions and words in good faith, keeping in mind our shared goal of collective liberation. This means we meet disagreements with curiosity and unity.
6. We agree to take responsibility for our actions and recognize impact over intention.
7. We agree to speak up if we believe this code of conduct has been violated in any way, even if the violator has good or unclear intentions. This means either bringing up violations in a meeting or reaching out to any member who seems appropriate.
