  • Thanks for your interest in applying for our Neat Streets grant fund, offered in partnership with McDonald's.

    Background

The aim of the Neat Streets grant fund is to support local authorities and land managers of public spaces run projects to tackle litter that use the replicable campaigns featured on the Neat Streets litter toolkit.

Therefore, before applying to the Neat Streets grant fund, it is important to be familiar with the replicable campaigns available. These are free to download and can be done so here.

In September 2024, we allocated two Neat Streets grants, and now have three grants of £10,000 left. We anticipate runnning quarterly application and selecting 1 - 2 projects each quarter.

To unlock the funding, we require organisations to commit £5,000 towards external costs too, in effect creating a budget of £15,000 toward direct external costs.

Approximately 70 percent of the funding must be spent on purchasing or upgrading infrastructure, with the remaining funds directed towards communication materials, event budgets, litter picking equipment, and overheads.

The funding is not intended to be used to cover ongoing costs, such as the removal and disposal of materials collected, or high-cost individual items, like art installations, collection vehicles or bins that cost £1,000 or more.

    Who can apply?

The funding is aimed at local authorities and land managers of publc realm spaces.

Applications can be supported by other organisations, for example in partnership with a community litter picking group and/or local businesses. Applications where the lead organisation is not a local authority or land manager will not be considered eligible.

To support the grant fund recipients, Hubbub will also provide light touch campaign and design support.

    Before submitting an application...

    Please take the time to:

    • Explore the Neat Streets website and case studies
    • Read through our guide on running a litter campaign
    • Download our free asset packs to inform which of our replicable campaigns would be most suited to your target area(s)
    • Review and fully understand the Neat Streets grant fund FAQs and Terms & Conditions

The application deadline for this second round of funding is 24th January 2025.

In addition to the application, you are also welcome to submit an optional presentation, no more than 10 slides.

Projects that best meet the criteria will be shortlisted and then reviewed by a panel made up of representatives from Hubbub and McDonald's.

We will notify applicants of the result of their application by the middle of February 2025.
