Responsibilities: Camp Director (CD)

The most important role of every JP staffer is to be a Christian witness in word and deed. Secondly, it is to spend time with the campers, build relationships, and contribute to establishing and maintaining a Christian community.

You will be part of a staff leadership team. All persons have equally important roles to fill and you are expected to work closely with all JP staff, striving for unity at all times.

Although you will have specific and important responsibilities as the Camp Director, you will see that much of your position includes performing several other general responsibilities in camp such as planning and giving a 5-10 minute devotional one morning.

Specifically, the Camp Director relates to the overall program in the following ways:

Responsible for leading staff training (training materials will be given to you in advance of the event).
Leads all meetings with adults and staff
Delegates responsibilities to the staff.
Makes final decisions on all matters.
Visits work sites each morning that do not have an assigned staff member.
Purchases and/or delivers tools/supplies as needed.
Serves as liaison between the Jeremiah Project and the host facility.
Sees to it that medical forms are with every work team.
Encourager: Does little things to boost morale among staff.
Coordinates with Program Director to ensure that program needs are met.
Type up all incident reports and inform the Executive Director of incident within 24 hours.
Ultimately responsible for everything that happens during the camp week.

Requirements:
Meet by Zoom with the ACD, Project Assistant and/or Executive director twice before camp week
Our expectation, when possible, is for the CD and ACD to meet by 10 am Saturday morning before Staff Training. This gives you a chance to fellowship and get started on preparing for the week ahead.
Time commitment: 1 week (Saturday morning to the following Saturday morning)
Must have completed 12th grade by the summer.
$300.00 Stipend will be provided.

There are many factors involved when placing JP Staff members on a camp week. We take into consideration the JP staff as a team. Determining factors include the strengths of staff members as well as a balance of new and veteran staff members. All week placement dates will be discussed with each staff member to confirm their availability.

You will also be given the opportunity to register to serve with JP for two weeks of camp, provided you have a week break in between the staffing weeks. If you are interested in serving two JP weeks please be sure to indicate that on the application.

The more weeks you are able to check that you are available, the easier it will be to ensure you are placed on a camp week!

As a staff member of the Jeremiah Project, you are in a leadership position and will be viewed as a leader in a Christian organization. Staff Training at the Jeremiah Project is a significant piece of our staffing model. This includes completing training modules online prior to your arrival, as well as in-person training when you arrive on Saturday.

During in-camp training you will hang out and get to know a group of strangers who will quickly become your new JP Staff family. There are late nights together of laughing, talking and getting to know each other and growing together towards God.

You will need to arrive at Staff Training on Saturday by 10:00am (if not earlier). All staffers MUST attend the entirety of Staff Training and the camp week.

As part of the leadership team, you will need to have a vehicle in camp with you all week. You will be driving to your worksite Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of your camp week.

The safety and security of those whom God has placed in our care is of the utmost importance to the Jeremiah Project. It is because of this responsibility that JP runs comprehensive background checks on all JP staff and volunteers. If you are accepted in a JP Staff position and are over the age of 18, then a background check must be completed. We have partnered with a professional screening company and will provide you with a secure electronic release form and background check form.
