Dear OCA Member:

Thank you for applying for this $2,000 benefit of membership by sponsoring the above-named applicant for an OCA-Member Legacy Scholarship.

There are three components to this program:

1. OCA member (that's you) completes this recommendation form indicating your interest in sponsoring a particular candidate. Your sponsorship includes your commitment to foster a connection with the candidate through summer employment, or whatever appropriate schedule works for the OCA member and the candidate; the intent is to keep the candidate engaged with the industry between the first and second years of education/training. 2. Candidate completes and submits the application forwarded to them by their OCA member sponsor (above), and must express an interest in working in the heavy/civil industry in Ohio - through your firm.
3. OCA evaluates applications and makes awards:

• First consideration is given to OCA member firms who have not yet participated in the program.
• Special attention will be given to include as many OCA Chapter areas as possible.
• OCA will provide a $2,000 scholarship check in each winning candidate’s name; this will be sent to the OCA member, along with a certificate to be used when presenting the check to the student.
• Each Legacy Scholarship Award is $2,000; this one-time award is intended to cover training/education/required tools and equipment during the first two years. 

The program is intended to be flexible enough to apply to a wide variety of relationships: as a benefit to top-performing employees who might want to “invite” a child, niece/nephew, grandchild into the industry;  a young person who has worked for the company after school or on weekends, and who is championed by the company; the company may have identified a special candidate they wish to sponsor.

Awards will be determined as completed submissions are evaluated.

We appreciate your willingness to participate in the application process, AND ASK JUST ONE MORE THING: we will mail the check (payable to the student) to you so you can determine how to best present it. We do ask for a photo that can be emailed to lpomeroy@ohiocontractors or text to 614-746-3504.

 

The photo will ideally include the candidate, the employee who championed the candidate...and YOU, the sponsor! A truck or company sign in the background that includes your logo is welcome.

The photo will be used to promote the OCA-Member Legacy Scholarship program.
