The work on this property described above is less than $40,000 and will not use an NC Licensed General Contractor. I wish to use the exception in Section 87-1 of the "Act to Regulate the Practice of General Contracting," which permits an unlicensed person or company to act as the contractor without obtaining a license.I understand if for any reason the total project cost equals or exceeds $40,000, this permit is no longer valid and a NC Licensed General Contractor shall be hired to take over the project.I also understand that this is an exemption to general contracting licensing only, and does not exempt this project from Building Code requirements.
