    Help Request Form

    Helping Outside Animals
  • Thank you for your concern for the animals you are requesting assistance for. We understand this may be a stressful situation for you. Due to the complexity of our work, providing all requested details thoroughly and accurately is the best way for us to effectively help at-risk animals. Please read each section carefully when responding.

Helping Outside Animals is a volunteer-run organization based in the Naugatuck/New Haven County area. We serve nearby communities and provide resources when we are able. As much as we wish we could, we simply cannot help all animals. If we are not able to intake the animals ourself, we can at least network them to see if local rescues can assist based on the information we receive.

Helping Outside Animals (HOA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (tax ID# 41-3516812), operates as a community-driven rescue dedicated to assisting vulnerable and at-risk animals in Connecticut. HOA focuses on advocacy, fostering, and coordinating rescue efforts, while supporting spay/neuter initiatives and connecting animals with safe placements and long-term homes.

  • Communication & Update Agreement

We are a volunteer-run organization managing a high volume of cases. Timely communication ensures no animal falls through the cracks — and that our volunteers' time is spent where it matters most.

By submitting this form, you agree to the following:

    • You will respond to any requests for updates or action within 24 hours.
    • You will notify us immediately if the situation changes or if you secure help elsewhere.
    • If we do not hear from you within 24 hours, we may move forward based on the most recent information available to us.
    • Failure to communicate wastes critical volunteer time and resources.
    • Individuals who do not follow through may be removed from the page.

Submitting a help request is just the beginning — we do the heavy lifting from there, but we need you to stay engaged so we can advocate effectively for the animal.

  • Rescue Placement; or Help for Visibly Injured or Sick Animals

  • Please describe the condition of the animal(s)*
  • Steps to take now:

If this is a found cat, please do the following:

    • Scan for a microchip, if possible

    • Notify your local Animal Control that a cat has been found. Even though most AC do not take cats, they do keep a record of calls so have them note cat, sex, color and where found.

    • Make reasonable efforts to locate an owner (local community pages, neighborhood groups, lost-and-found sites, etc.)

Please share  the information on the Animal Emergency Network CT on Facebook, as many rescues monitor that group and may be able to assist. If you are not yet a member, please be sure to answer all required questions when requesting to join.

  • Was Animal Control Notified?*
  • On what date did you notify them?

  • Outdoor Shelter and/or Straw Request

  • Shelters and straw are provided free of charge based on availability and urgency. Please fill out our Shelter/Straw Request form: https://form.jotform.com/250216971157154

  • Re-Home/Surrender by Legal Owner(s)

Our rescue's primary focus is on providing care for animals that do not have homes. We are happy to help network the pets based on the information provided. However, please know there are other rescues more equiped to providing assistance for animals that already have safe homes (depending on their availability). We would be happy to point you in the right direction. If we agree to take the animal(s) into our care, a separate, short Surrender Agreement form will be required for record purposes. This is a requirement for all reputable rescues.
  • We ask that you also post your animal(s) on Animal Emergency Network CT on Facebook, where there are members affiliated with local rescues. Please answer all of their questions when requesting to join. Do you agree to do so?*
