Next Gen Fall Semester: Deep Dive into Your Chosen Track

Next Gen is proud to offer our award-winning media making foundation programs, Factory (Video Production Foundations) and Animation. Each unit is a semester long, and all students will have the opportunity for hands-on media making experiences. Our Factory and Animation units take place at KQED in the Mission.

A note about this course’s length:

Next Gen is a semester-long program. Students do have the option to continue in the Spring, if they choose. In the Spring Semester, students will have the chance to deepen skills they have learned in the Fall Semester, and elect to create a collaborative, capstone project. Students will earn a separate $250 incentive for each semester they complete!

Filmmakers are encouraged to explore topics important to them and their communities while also making videos that touch on issues of social justice.

Animation: Participants with an interest in visual art and animation will learn foundational techniques for studying and creating motion. Students will have the opportunity to explore the basics of animation techniques, such as traditional frame animation to experimental styles and stop-motion. No animation experience required!
