1. The school year consists of a minimum of 30 days of instruction, begins after Labor Day each year, and ends in May of the following calendar year (the last weekend before Memorial Day). The school observes all major federal and religious holidays in Ukraine and the USA.

Навчальний рік складається щонайменше з 30 навчальних днів і починається після Дня праці щороку, та закінчується в травні наступного календарного року (останні вихідні перед Днем Пам'яті). Школа дотримується календаря усіх федеральних та релігійних свят України та США.

2. The school day begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. and ends at noon for Svitlychka and 1:00 p.m. for all other classes. A short lunch break is included.

Навчальний день для “Світлички” починається рівно о 9:00 і закінчується о 12:00, а для всіх інших класів – 9:00 - 13:00. Коротка перерва на обід включена.

3. In the morning, students should go directly to their classrooms. At the end of the school day, parents of younger children should pick them up in front of the classroom door or the classroom (if permitted by the teacher). Older children meet their parents in the cafeteria just after 1:00 p.m. After school ends at 1:00 p.m., their parents are responsible for their students.

Вранці учні мають прямувати безпосередньо до своїх класів. Наприкінці навчального дня батьки дітей з молодших класів повинні забрати їх перед дверима класу або у класі (якщо дозволено вчителем). Старші діти зустрічаються із батьками в їдальні одразу після 13:00. Після закінчення навчання о 13:00 за учнів відповідають їхні батьки.

4. All students, hall monitors, teachers, administrators, parents, and guests are encouraged to speak only Ukrainian during the school day.

Усіх учнів, чергових, вчителів, адміністраторів, батьків та гостей просять розмовляти лише українською мовою протягом всього навчального дня.

5. Parents and students are responsible for arriving at school on time and must be prepared for class, with all necessary books, notebooks, and stationery.

Батьки та учні є відповідальними за своєчасне прибуття до школи та підготовленість до уроків, мати всі необхідні книги, зошити та канцелярське приладдя.

6. Students who arrive late or are absent from school must make up missed work, especially written assignments and tests.

Учні, які запізнилися або були відсутні на уроках, повинні надолужити пропущені заняття, особливо письмові завдання та контрольні роботи.

7. Students are expected to act appropriately while in school, with respect to themselves, other students, teachers, administrators, parents, and the school facility.

Учні зобов'язані поводитися належним чином протягом навчального дня, поважаючи себе, а також інших учнів, вчителів, адміністраторів, батьків та шкільний заклад.

8. Students are not allowed to touch or damage anything in classrooms, hallways, or restrooms that does not belong to them. Students caught damaging or vandalizing will be reprimanded, and they and their parents will be held financially responsible for any damages. Repeated violations will result in expulsion from school.

Учні не мають права зачіпати будь-які речі та предмети у класах, коридорах і туалетах, які їм не належать. Учні не мають права нічого псувати. Учні, спіймані на псуванні чи вандалізмі, отримають догану, і вони та їхні батьки нестимуть фінансову відповідальність за будь-які збитки. Повторне порушення буде підставою для виключення зі школи.

9. Students will not bring any objects or devices to class that are not considered essential to their learning experience, e.g., toys, balls, mobile phones, laptops, digital music players, cameras, etc. Teachers have the right to confiscate any item from a student considered disruptive. The item will be returned to the student at the end of the school day.

Учням не дозволяється приносити жодних предметів чи пристроїв, які не вважаються необхідними для їхнього навчального процесу, напр. іграшки, м'ячі, мобільні телефони, ноутбуки, цифрові музичні плеєри, фотоапарати тощо. Вчителі мають право вилучити в учня будь-який предмет, який вважається таким, що буде заважати учбовому процесу. Предмет буде повернений учню в кінці навчального дня.

10. Students should not run in the hallways or cafeteria and should not play with any toys or other objects in these areas.

Учні не повинні бігати в коридорах та їдальні, і не повинні гратися будь-якими іграшками чи іншими предметами в цих місцях.

11. Students will only eat in the cafeteria. Eating in classrooms is prohibited.

Учні можуть вживати їжу тільки в їдальні. Їсти в класних кімнатах заборонено.

12. Students are prohibited from entering the stage area without permission.

Учням заборонено вхід на сцену без дозволу.

13. Students will only leave classrooms or the building under their parents' supervision or with the teacher's permission. Teachers, administrators, or hallway monitors must supervise restroom breaks.

Учні можуть виходити з класів чи школи лише під наглядом або з дозволу вчителів або батьків. Під час навчання, вчителі, адміністратори та чергові в коридорах повинні слідкувати за візитами дітей в туалет і назад до класу.

PARENTAL OBLIGATIONS / БАТЬКІВСЬКІ ОБОВ’ЯЗКИ
1. Parents understand that Ukrainian school is self-organized by parents for children and thus parents shall make every effort to volunteer and support school organization, planning, and activities through committees, attending and voting at parent meetings and actively participating in the Parents’ Committee (Batkivsky Komitet).

Батьки розуміють, що Українська Школа є самоорганізацією, створеною батьками для дітей. Тому батьки повинні докладати всіх зусиль для волонтерства та підтримки організації школи, планування та діяльності через комітети, відвідувати та голосувати на Батьківських Зборах та брати активну участь у Батьківському Комітеті.

2. Parents must treat Ukrainian School and its obligations with the same respect as their children’s weekday school. This includes, but is not limited to, not touching things in hallways, classrooms, and restrooms that do not belong to them, and not defacing or vandalizing anything. Anyone engaging in such behaviors will be financially liable for any damages. This behavior will be grounds for exclusion from school.

Батьки повинні ставитися до Української школи та її обов’язків з такою ж повагою, як до щоденної школи своїх дітей. Це включає вимогу для учнів не торкатися речей у коридорах, класних кімнатах і туалетах, які їм не належать, а також не псувати нічого у приміщенні школи. Кожен, хто бере участь у такій поведінці, нестиме фінансову відповідальність за будь-які збитки. Така поведінка буде підставою для виключення зі школи.

3. Parents must bring their children to school on time. When students arrive late, parents accompany them to their classrooms.

Батьки повинні вчасно приводити дітей до школи. Якщо учні запізнюються, батьки мають провести дитину або дітей безпосередньо до її/його/їхніх класів.

4. Parents must inform teachers as soon as feasible when their children will be absent from school, arriving late, or leaving early.

Батьки повинні якнайшвидше повідомити вчителів про те, що їхні діти будуть відсутні в школі, прийдуть пізно або йдуть раніше.

5. Parents may excuse their children early from school only with the teacher's permission. All subjects are considered part of the school day.

Батьки можуть забрати своїх дітей раніше лише з дозволу вчителя. Всі уроки вважаються частиною навчального дня.

6. Parents must ensure that their children’s homework is completed each week, check it, and help them do their work.

Батьки повинні стежити за тим, щоб їхні діти виконували домашнє завдання кожного тижня, перевіряти домашні роботи своїх дітей та підтримувати дітей у виконанні їхньої роботи.

7. Parents must complete at least three (3) hall monitoring duties (vital for school operations). Parents who cannot perform their assignments are responsible for finding substitutes.

Батьки повинні виконувати принаймні три (3) обов’язки по чергуванню у коридорах та їдальні (життєво важливі для роботи школи). Батьки, які записалися на чергування, але не можуть виконувати свої обов'язки у конкретний день та час, повинні знайти собі заміну.

Сім’ї можуть записатися на чергування, використовуючи посилання Sign-Up Genius у Шкільному Віснику.

8. Parents are also encouraged to volunteer for lunch/pizza and coffee/doughnuts. Families can sign up for duties using the Sign-Up Genius link in the School Newsletter.

Батьків також заохочують долучитися до роздачі обіду/піци та кави/пампушок. Сім’ї можуть підписатися на роздачу, використовуючи посилання Sign-Up Genius у Шкільному Віснику.

9. Parents must try to speak Ukrainian on school premises, especially to children.

Батьки повинні докладати максимум зусиль, щоб у школі, а особливо з дітьми, розмовляти українською мовою.

10. Parents are expected to assist in preparing special assemblies, Christmas caroling, and other school activities.

Батьки мають бути активно залучені у підготовку спеціальних зборів, колядок та інших шкільних заходів.

11. Parents must set a good example for their children during school assemblies, listen to all performances quietly and respectfully, and refrain from socializing during performances. Individuals not following these guidelines may be asked to leave the auditorium.

Батьки повинні подавати добрий приклад своїм дітям під час шкільних зборів і слухати всі вистави тихо та з повагою, та утримуватися від спілкування під час вистав. Осіб, які не дотримуються цих вказівок, можуть попросити покинути приміщення.

12. Parents understand that the school does not have the resources to evaluate and accommodate children with special needs. Parents agree to assist and support teachers, however necessary, including attending classes with their children with special needs, if requested by the teacher or administrators.

Батьки розуміють, що школа не має ресурсів для оцінки стану та допомоги дітям з особливими потребами. Батьки дітей з особливими потребами погоджуються допомагати та підтримувати вчителів, якщо це необхідно, включаючи відвідування класів зі своїми дітьми, якщо цього вимагає вчитель або адміністрація школи.

ILLNESS POLICY
Children's health and safety is our top priority.
The school must notify parents as soon as possible if their child is having an emergency or has symptoms of illness while at school. Parents must be able to pick up their child(ren) within 30 minutes after being notified.
Any sick child will be immediately pulled from the classroom and placed to a separate room to wait until a parent or guardian picks them up.
Parents must not bring their children to school if they have the following symptoms:

1. Fever over 100 °F (37.8 °C) within the last 24 hours;
2. Any vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours;
3. Sore throat;
4. Cough;
5. Difficulty breathing;
6. New onset of severe headache;
7. Any signs of other infectious diseases.

ПРАВИЛА ЩОДО ЗАХВОРЮВАНЬ

Здоров'я та безпека дітей є нашим головним пріоритетом.
Школа має якнайшвидше повідомити батьків, якщо їхня дитина перебуває в невідкладній ситуації або має симптоми хвороби під час перебування у школі. Батьки зобов'язані забрати свою дитину (дітей) протягом 30 хвилин після отримання повідомлення про необхідність це зробити.
Будь-яка хвора дитина буде негайно усунута з класу та переміщена в іншу ізольовану кімнату, де чекатиме поки її не заберуть батьки або опікуни.
Батьки не повинні приводити своїх дітей до школи, якщо вони мають наступні симптоми:
1. Температура понад 100 °F (37.8 °C) за останню добу;
2. Будь-яка блювота або пронос протягом останньої доби;
3. Біль у горлі;
4. Кашель;
5. Ускладнення дихання;
6. Нова поява сильного головного болю;
7. Будь-які ознаки інших інфекційних захворювань.

Student Photo Permission Opt-out Policy
STUDENT PHOTO AND VIDEO PERMISSION OPT-OUT POLICY

During school events, Ukrainian School staff and parents will occasionally photograph or make video recording of students, or publish their photos, or school work for public display or use (social media, official school social media pages). Such disclosure may occur in the press, on television, or through electronic means such as the Internet or social media. If you object to the above publications, please send an email to director@ukrainianschooldc.org. The school will assume that it has your permission to publish photos and videos for the 2025-2026 academic year if it does not receive your email to the above before the beginning of the academic year or within 3 days after submitting the registration form.

Also, please note that the above conditions apply only to the publication of photos and videos that show one child or a small group of children. The school reserves the right to publish photos and videos with a large group of children and adults, without any personal information.

ПОЛОЖЕННЯ ЩОДО ВІДМОВИ ВІД ВИКОРИСТАННЯ ФОТО- ТА ВІДЕОМАТЕРІАЛІВ ІЗ ЗОБРАЖЕННЯМ УЧНІВ

Під час шкільних заходів працівники Української школи та батьки час від часу фотографуватимуть чи зніматимуть учнів на відео, або оприлюднюватимуть їхні зображення чи шкільні роботи для показу чи використання для громадськості (соціальні медіа, офіційні сторінки школи в соціальних медіа, шкільний вебсайт). Таке оприлюднення може статися в пресі, на телебаченні чи за допомогою електронних засобів, таких як Інтернет чи соціальні мережі. Якщо ви заперечуєте проти вищезазначених публікацій, будь ласка, надішліть електронного листа на пошту director@ukrainianschooldc.org. Школа вважатиме, що має ваш дозвіл на публікацію фото та відео на 2025-2026 навчальний рік, якщо не отримає вашого листа на вищезазначену пошту до початку навчального року або протягом 3-х днів після подачі реєстраційної форми.

З вас буде додатково знято заставу розміром $100 яка буде повернута наприкінці року за умови що ви надасте підтвердження що ваша родина чергувала 4 рази на протязі року. Чергування може бути у коридорі, на роздачі піцци або кави, у підготовці до свят та прибиранні після свят, допомога у підготовці шкільного альбому, тощо. Можливостей для волонтерства в школі достатньо. Чергування розраховується на одну родину, незалежно від кількості батьків та дітей. Вчителі та помічники вчителів нашої школи та їх родини звільняються від цих обов'язків, але школа з задоволенням прийме будь яку допомогу!

You will be charged an additional refundable deposit of $100. To receive this deposit back at the end of the school year you must demonstrate 4 records of performing a volunteering duty at school, that can include following: hall monitor duty, cafeteria duty (pizza, coffee, etc.), festival preparations and clean-up, help with yearbook production, etc. We have plenty of opportunities to volunteer. Mandatory duty is accounted per family regardless of the number of parents or children. Teachers, teacher assistants, and their families are exempted from the duty, but are always welcome to help!

Financial assistance is only available to families in the United States for no more than 2 years (entry date after September 1st 2023) You must provide proof of your date of entry into the United States (Form I-94).

If you need a tuition discount for a good reason, please email tuition@ukrainianschooldc.org. You must attach your last year’s tax return and the previous three (3) months of pay stubs to your letter. In your letter, please explain in detail the reason for your request for financial assistance. The school reserves the right to request additional documents from you to verify your eligibility for financial aid.

In addition to the above conditions for requesting financial aid, each family applying must participate in volunteer work to help the school operations. This condition is mandatory and not subject to change. Failure to comply with this point gives the school the right to cancel the financial aid if granted.

Financial aid approval is valid for one (1) academic year. When registering for the next year, if you still need financial aid from the school and have been in the United States for no more than 2 years, you must resubmit a detailed letter of explanation and attach the documents listed above.

All financial assistance applications will be considered individually.

Without fulfilling the above actions and submitting the documents, the financial assistance form is considered unrequested, not approved, and will not be fulfilled by the School.

Фінансова допомога надається тільки сім'ям, які знаходяться у США не більше 2-х років (дата в'їзду після 1 вересня 2023 р.) Ви маєте надати підтвердження дати в'їзду до США (форма I-94).

Якщо вам потрібна знижка на навчання з поважної причини, надішліть листа на tuition@ukrainianschooldc.org. До вашого листа ви маєте прикласти податкову форму за минулий рік (Tax Return) і чеки за оплату праці за останні три (3) місяці (Pay Stubs). У листі у розгорнутій формі поясніть, на якій підставі ви звертаєтеся за фінансовою допомогою. Школа залишає за собою право зробити запит у вас на додаткові документи для підтвердження права на фінансову допомогу.

Окрім вищезазначених умов для запиту на фінансову допомогу, кожна сім’я, яка за нею звертається, має в обов’язковому порядку долучитися до волонтерства на потреби школи. Ця умова є обов’язковою та не підлягає змінам. У випадку невиконання даного пункту школа залишає за собою право відмінити фінансову допомогу.

Схвалення фінансової допомоги діє протягом одного (1) навчального року. При реєстрації на наступний рік, якщо ви ще потребуватимете фінансової допомоги від школи та знаходитеся у США не більше 2-х років, ви маєте знову надсилати розгорнутого листа із поясненням та прикласти документи, зазначені вище.

Усі заяви на фінансову допомогу від школи будуть розглядатися в індивідуальному порядку.
