  • Working Equitation (WE) is as much about building partnership and trust as it is about mastering technical skills. The safe supportive atmosphere encourages experimentation and learning, with an emphasis on patience, empathy, and good horsemanship.

For the CANWE 2026 group, training typically begins with the fundamentals of flat work, helping both horse and rider develop balance, responsiveness, and clear communication.

Riders then progress to introducing obstacles, starting with simple elements like poles and slaloms, before advancing to more complex challenges such as side-passing over poles or opening gates from horseback.

Training days are led by qualified and trainers who combine elements of classical dressage, and work in the field. Training days cater to all skill levels, and are designed to build confidence in both horse and rider. You may attend either mounted or in- hand.

WE in NZ is governed by Working Equitation New Zealand (WENZ) check out the WENZ website
