Background
If you own or control the copyright in sound recordings, you can register with Recorded Music NZ and authorise us to license your recordings to music users (on a non-exclusive basis) and collect and distribute royalties to you. To find out more about what’s involved in being a Registered Rights Holder, before registering with us and signing a Master Rights Agreement, you should read the following materials:

Personal Information and Registration Process
As part of our registration process we will require you to do some or all the following:
- Provide us with contact details and other information about you and the sound recording rights and/or artist(s) connected to you
- Provide us with company, bank, tax details and two forms of proof of identity
- Enter into a binding legal agreement with us
The personal information you provide will be shared with Recorded Music NZ and anyone you approve to access to your account (once activated) and will be used by us only for the specific purposes set out in our Privacy Policy, which you can view here.
International Rights Holders: Please note that only NZ citizen/resident persons and entities can apply to register with us via this online process. If you are an overseas recording rights holder you may be able to register to receive royalties from us via your local CMO or directly in certain instances – contact memberservices@recordedmusic.co.nz for more information.
You should continue to complete this form if:
- you are a Rights Holder i.e you own/control sound recordings
- if you are both a Rights Holder and a featured artist on sound recordings that you own/control
