  • Visit hij.org.uk

  • HIJ will take place near Overton in Hampshire, UK and is open to young people from Scouting and Guiding aged 10 and over.

This form is to book places and can either be used by Group leaders to book spaces for their Group, or for parents to sign up an Explorer or Ranger.

    Registration Fees

We are currently providing an Early Bird discount price of £300 per young person and £50 per adult leader as part of that Group when places are booked by Sunday 28th February 2027. The participant registration fee includes access to the full HIJ experience, including camping, the event programme, ceremonies, entertainment and the facilities and services required to deliver the event safely. Travel to and from the event, food (optional catering package available), personal spending money and optional merchandise are not included. Full details will be available in the HIJ FAQs on our website.

Note that prices will increase as follows:

    • from Monday 1st March 2027 the price will increase to £350 per young person
    • from 1st May 2028 the price will increase to £390 per young person

    HIJ Flex Guarantee

Booking for an event nearly two years in advance can be daunting, especially when participant numbers are likely to change.

That's why every group booking for HIJ 2028 benefits from our HIJ Flex Guarantee.

Until 1st September 2027, groups can increase or decrease their original youth booking by up to 20% with confidence:

    • Increase your numbers by up to 20% and those additional participants will retain your original registration price.
    • Decrease your numbers by up to 20% and you won't lose any payments already made against those places.

If your numbers increase by more than 20%, any additional participants beyond the Flex Guarantee will simply be charged at the registration price available at the time they are added.

Example: A group books 30 places at the Launch Price. Before 1 September 2027 they can increase to 36 places, with all 36 participants paying the Launch Price, or reduce to 24 places without forfeiting any payments already made.

  • For attending Groups, we recognise that some adult volunteers have their own children they wish to bring along who aren't part of the Scout/Guide/Explorer/Ranger sections. We are able to offer spaces for adult volunteers younger children and these will be charged at £50 per person for the full week. Please note that they won't be able to participate in the main activity programme.

  • Arrival at HIJ

How do you plan to arrive at the event
  • We are keen to ensure that everyone arrives at HIJ safely. To allow us to make transport plans, we're looking to understand how you plan to arrive at the event. It could be that you're arriving by car, minibus or coach directly to the event or you could be arriving by rail or air.

For those arriving by rail, we are anticipating many groups arriving at either Winchester or Micheldever stations. Please let us know which station you are expecting to arrive at.

For any of our International participants arriving by air, the local airports are with Southampton or London Heathrow. Let us know where you intend to arrive at so we can plan our arrivals.

If you're arriving by any other method, or using a combination, please choose 'Other' and provide the additional details.

  • At this stage, how would you expect the participants in this booking to arrive to HIJ? (This may be amended at a later date)*
  • Will the vehicle(s) stay at HIJ during the event? (if known, can be amended at a later date)
  • Which airport will you arrive at? (if known, can be amended at a later date)
  • As you are arriving at London Heathrow or Southampton Airports and you are an International participant, would you like assistance with arranging transport to HIJ? (if known, can be amended at a later date)
  • Which railway station will you arrive at? (if known, can be amended at a later date)
  • As you are arriving at Winchester or Micheldever train station, would you like assistance with arranging transport to HIJ? (if known, can be amended at a later date)
  • Catering

  • We are anticipating that many of our groups and participants will provide their own catering (and we can help provide guidance on local supermarkets and suppliers) but HIJ will offer an optional event catering package based on a food-provided, self-catering model.

    The package includes:

    • Breakfast, lunch and dinner ingredients provided for each day of the event.
    • Daily collection of food by unit leaders.
    • Units preparing meals on their own campsite.
    • Menus designed specifically for camp catering.
    • Provision for the 14 major food allergens.

The catering package will cost no more than £99 per participant.

At this stage, we're looking to understand the demand for this service.

  • If this service was on offer, would you consider taking advantage?
  • Confirm your booking

  • You are reminded that this form is only collecting your initial numbers. If you've booked for a group, you may amend your booked numbers and any bookings within 20% of the initial amount would allow you to retain any Early Bird discounts.

Once you submit this form, you will be contacted by the event team and will be required to pay a deposit and agree to the event terms and conditions.

If you have any questions, you can contact the team at bookings@hij.org.uk

You can find more details of our Booking Terms & Conditions on our website at Booking Policy
