• Welcome to the Waterhackweek community! At Waterhackweek, everyone is a participant, contributor, and learner. We are inviting alumni and new community members to register by continuing with this form.

    If you would like to volunteer to develop a tutorial, or provide leadership expertise as a data scientist, please follow this link to register.

    Waterhackweek 2020 is scheduled for August 31 - September 04 2020 at the University of Washington, Seattle. We ask you to fill out the form below to be considered to attend Waterhackweek *before May 31, 2020*.  Participants will be notified by June 12.  We plan to make interactive code and live lecture open to everyone, however, the number of projects and project participants will be limited by the number of instructors trained for leadership on virtual hackweek project teams (max team size = 7 people; including one data scientist and one facilitator).

    Successful applicants will pay a $100 registration fee.  When we meet online, this is used for supporting virtual diversity, inclusion, and equitable online meeting practices.  Please contact waterhackweek@uw.edu to request a waiver for this fee.

    Consent agreement: By completing this form you agree for your data you submit to be used for the purpose of participant selection as well as de-identified, aggregated demographic comparisons with past and future eScience Hackweeks. We will not share your personally identifying data beyond the organizers or use it for any other purpose than for participant selection. We will de-identify the data submitted within a month of participant selection for purposes of research and evaluation.     • There are many different ways to contribute to Waterhackweek, and you don't have to be an expert in data science to contribute to the workshop! Contributions can include any area in which you are an expert. For example, bring your field data, numerical model, lead a discussion group,, provide your experiences within water and data science to a team community-related project,develop resources for education or new curriculum, scope out an outreach or science communication project. Bring your favorite of the galaxy of ideas you might have (250 word limit).

    • Waterhackweek is taking place at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA. Depending on your country of residence and your nationality, you might need to apply for a visa to travel to the United States. The process can take up to several months depending on the type of visa and the embassy services involved. You (the attendant) are responsible for making sure you apply and obtain the visa in time. However, if you are selected, we (the co-organizers) can help you by writing a formal letter of attendance/sponsorship. This generally makes the application process easier and faster.
