CEF Summer Missionary Application
Thank you for considering what God would have you do this summer. It is exciting to have you consider being a summer missionary with Child Evangelism Fellowship^® (CEF^®). Christian Youth In Action^® (CYIA) is a 'home missions' experience giving you training you will use for your lifetime as well as the opportunity to take the Gospel to literally hundreds of children this summer.

Applications are due April 1. If you fill out this application after this date there is no guarantee it will be accepted. If you still desire to submit your application be sure you talk to your Local Director/Summer Coordinator ASAP. You will need to explain the reason why your application has been submitted late and your desire to still apply.

CYIA requires all of the following:

CYIA Fees - $515

Registration Fee: $30 (due at interview)
$485 Training at Camp Fairwood (due by training week)

You have the opportunity to share your intent to serve as a summer missionary with family and friends and as a team raise the funding needed to cover the cost of training.  Our approach is "Ask God and tell His people"

Time Commitment

Attend Orientation and pre-training sessions held in late April or early May (check with local director for details)
Attend CYIA - June 15-21, 2025 at Camp Fairwood (June 15 is check-in in late afternoon)
Participate in a second week of training in the local chapter
Teach Summer Good News Club^®1 or other summer ministry. The number of weeks is set by your local chapter (a minimum of two weeks unless otherwise stated by your local chapter.)
A Paid summer missionary will be asked to raise additional support to cover wages (above the $515) depending on the number of weeks one would serve.

Upon submission, your application will be processed and an interview will be scheduled with you and your parent(s)/guardian(s). At the interview, this application will be reviewed, signatures will be obtained and a $30 registration fee will be collected.

The application MUST BE COMPLETED by April 1, 2025.

Child Protection Policy

CEF takes seriously our responsibility to protect the children we serve, the volunteers who serve the children, our partnering churches and the good name of Jesus Christ.

Following are some important considerations for all who will volunteer and have direct contact with the children through CEF ministries.
- CEF does online background checks and volunteer applications utilizing a secure server so that your information is safe.
- All workers (volunteer or paid) must review the Child Protection Policy and view the "Protecting Today's Child" presentation annually
- All workers (age 18 and older) are required to undergo a national criminal background check.
- Approved workers will issued a required nametag to be worn during all CEF sponsored activities.
- If you turn 18 during the summer, please make sure that your local contact gives you more information about this screening.
- If you are under 18, please include accurate contact information for the references.

Participation as a Summer Missionary

Minimum Requirement – Summer missionaries will participate in Christian Youth In Action (CYIA) training. Additional training will be scheduled by the local chapter.

All Summer Missionaries must participate an additional two weeks (the equivalent of 6 clubs), or other special events like local fair ministries or block parties during the summer.

Overview of the Summer Financial Policy

A complete Financial policy is available in the manual you will receive at Orientation.

Support Raising – All Summer Missionaries are requested to compile a list of at least 25 people to whom they will send support letters. These letters will request prayer and financial support for the summer ministry.

Summer Ministry Fund – All Summer Missionaries are to raise support for the Summer Ministry Fund.

In Case of Insufficient Funds – If a Summer Missionary does not raise adequate support to cover the cost of training ($495), they may be asaked to pay the shortfall.

If a Summer Missionary does not receive enough pledges to cover the majority of their wages through the entire summer (no later than the week before clubs begin) their committed weeks will be as a volunteer.

Surplus Financial Gifts – Any gifts that exceed the amount needed for the Summer Missionary’s expenses will remain in the Summer Ministry Fund, undesignated, to help defray the overall costs of summer ministry. Funds will not be carried over in individual accounts to the next year.

Paid Summer Missionaries - It is strongly recommended that if this is your first year as a summer missionary, you participate as a volunteer.

To be employed you must be at least 14 years old.

- WI Work Permit (Ages 14-16, only once as summer missionary)
At your interview, you will receive the required employment forms which are due by Orientation.

A Transportation Waiver form will need to be signed by parents and Summer Missionary at the interview.

Photography and Video Release

Child Evangelism Fellowship may, from time to time, document the activities of the ministry with photos or videos. I hereby assign and grant to Child Evangelism Fellowship Inc., its subsidiaries and successors, and assign the
unqualified right to the ownership, use and proceeds of all photographs or video of me or my minor child {name} without reservation or limitation, including use of photographs or video of me or my minor child for, but not limited to, advertising, educational and promotional purposes.
