  • Waterfowl Species Migration at Drum Point: Guided Hike Registration

  • Cove Point Natural Heritage Trust invites you to the Waterfowl Species Migration Hike at Drum Point, guided by Rick Smith (Calvert Nature Society).

    Very early March is a great time for bird watching enthusiasts to view the overlap of winter bird species starting to move north and spring species (including Osprey) starting to move into the area.

    Date: Wednesday, March 11, 2026

    Time: 7:30am - 9:30am (arrive at gate no later than 7:30am in front of Drum Point Club)

    Hike Leader: Rick Smith, Calvert Nature Society 

    Location: Drum Point Club gate, 465 Overlook Dr. Lusby, MD 20657

    Route: Less than one mile total, includes a beachfront walk leading to an interior pond. Flat, beginner-friendly. 

    Cove Point Natural Heritage Trust will contact you in the case of cancellation due to inclement weather.

    • All hike attendees will need to provide a signed Volunteer Registration Waiver.

      There are two ways to do this:

      1. Online: You can fill out the waiver here - just remember to click "Submit." 

      2. Print and Bring in Person: You can find a printable PDF of the waiver here. Remember to add your signature and bring it to the event with you. 

      If you are signing up one or more additional attendees: 

      They will still have to complete their own waiver (unless you are their parent or guardian, in which case, please submit a second waiver for them).
