    • Servants Distinctives
    • Servants, as a Christian mission, has several distinctive features that you need to agree with or ‘buy into’ when you do an internship. It’s important that you consider these prayerfully, as by signing up to do an internship with Servants you’re indicating that you are willing to embrace these values and do your best to live them out while you are with Servants.

Carefully read over Servants five ministry principles, and our five community values, then answer these questions:

    • Carefully read through Servants’ Belief & Action Statement, then answer these questions:

    • Please read each statement below, and then choose the option that most accurately represents your response:

    • Living Simply & Living With The Poor: This is what we mean by our incarnational approach.*
    • Wholism & Wholeness: We want to see all people come into a healed relationship with Jesus, with each other, with creation, and with themselves.*
    • Peacemaking: We are committed to active nonviolence (i.e. a refusal to use force, coercion, manipulation or militarism to achieve goals, no matter how noble they may seem) in either our words or in our actions. Moreover, we are committed to learning and using the skills of conflict resolution, mediation, and reconciled relationships wherever possible.*
    • Teamwork & Mutual Submission: We are an international network of interdependent teams. Our teams committed to learning from one another and supporting (through prayer, encouragement and resources) one another. Each team makes decisions by open discussion and by trying to reach consensus. All teams (and members) voluntarily submit to the overall leadership structure of Servants, which is comprised of the International Coordination Team and representatives from each team and home office. Please note that there are times (eg. in a crisis or emergency) when an urgent decision is required, and where it is not practical or helpful to engage in a lengthy consensus building process, and the designated leadership must simply make 'a call' or decision.*
    • Ongoing Personal Growth: Life in a poor neighborhood could be completely filled up with serving people around us. In Servants we are committed to also focusing on our own growth to become more human and more like Jesus.*
    • Extending Grace: Integrity and justice are very important to us, so part of being community is keeping each other accountable to our principles. Since we are all fallible, community also involves extending grace (love and forgiveness) to ourselves and others. We believe grace is the most essential ingredient o God's Kingdom and to life on a team.*
