Culture Advantage is approved by the State of Oregon to provide healthcare interpreter training for Oregon  interpreters.

    March 16, 2023

    Greetings!

We are pleased to announce that Oregon Certified Interpreter's Network (OCIN), is providing a matching scholarship of $300.00 for students of the Culture Advantage Healthcare Interpreter Program who are eligible to register with Oregon Health Authority after graduation.

To qualify for the OCIN scholarship, the candidate must meet or exceed Oregon's language requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring or experienced interpreters to take the Culture Advantage program with a registration fee of only $300.00 instead of $600.00.

Please contact Marlene as soon as possible if you are interested in the scholarship and to apply. Three matching scholarships are available at this time.

We want to thank OCIN for supporting the professional development of healthcare interpreters!

    • Language Proficiency Testing and Technical Requirements
    • Language Proficiency Testing

Culture Advantage recommends that you take a Language Proficiency Exam but does not require language proficiency testing to take the program - if you are able to read and write in Spanish at a high school level, or if you have professional medical interpreting experience, or if your organization sponsors you to take the program. We may request additional information from you or we may require a Brief Screening Test (with a fee).

We recommend a Brief Screening Test, which is a brief assessment of language proficiency, to take the program, if you are not confident of your language skills. The Screening Test is NOT a comprehensive language assessment.

Please note that OREGON requires a formal language proficiency exam if you do not meet the Oregon State Requirements.
