    2026 Scholarship Application
  • Following is information including an application for a Fairmont Athletic Booster Scholarship. Each year, the Fairmont Athletic Boosters award scholarships to graduating Fairmont High School seniors who have played a varsity sport(s) while attending Fairmont High School in their senior year.

    This year, $10,000 is available and the intent is to award up to ten (10) scholarships, each worth $1,000.

    All applicants should read the purpose, eligibility requirements and selection process prior to starting the application.

    PURPOSE

    The Kettering Fairmont Athletic Boosters have established this award program to help finance the post-secondary education of graduating Fairmont student athletes. The intent of this program is to recognize outstanding athletic, academic, citizenship, and leadership achievements of senior student athletes during high school. Scholarships will be awarded to seniors who have met the scholarship program's eligibility requirements, completed an application and have been selected by the Fairmont Athletic Boosters Selection Committee as a recipient.

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    • Must be a graduating Kettering Fairmont High School senior who has earned one (1) or more varsity letter awards in an interscholastic sport or in a related sports activity (cheerleading, sports medicine or as a team manager).
    • Must have participated in one (1) sports season during his/her senior year unless excused by a medical authority. If the applicant was excused by a medical authority his/her senior year, the applicant must have participated in at least one (1) sports season at Kettering Fairmont during his/her junior year.
    • Applicant can not have been suspended from active participation in athletics or activities during his/her senior year due to breach of the Athletic Code of Conduct.
    • Applicant must apply to and expect to attend a post-secondary educational institution (defined as trade school, technical school, community or junior college, four-year college or university or other institution of higher education). 
    • Applicant must complete the Fairmont Athletic Booster Scholarship application in its entirety, including essay, as well as submit a letter of recommendation and a coach evaluation from the head coach of each of the sports the applicant participated in his/her senior year.
    • Applicant must submit a completed application online prior to the submission deadline of midnight on Monday, March 30, 2026.
    • Applicant or a member of the applicant's immediate family must be a Fairmont Athletic Booster member at any of the offered membership levels of support. For information about Booster membership, click here or visit www.fairmontathleticboosters.org.
    • Applicants may apply for only one (1) Fairmont Athletic Booster scholarship.
    • Applicants may not be in receipt of a full academic or athetic scholarship (or multiple scholarships and/or grants paying full tuition) to the institution in which he/she will be attending. Should applicant receive notification of a full academic or athletic scholarship (or multiple scholarships and/or grants paying full tuition) to the post-secondary institution that he/she will be attending after submission of this application, he/she should notify the Fairmont Athletic Boosters at info@fairmontathleticboosters.org immediately and withdraw his/her application.
    • Applicant must upload with the submitted application at least one letter of recommendation from someone outside of the Fairmont Athletic Department. Letters of recommendation may come from principals, teachers, youth group leaders, employers, etc. Members of the Fairmont Athletic Department who are not eligible include the athletic director, assistant athletic directors, athletic department administrative assistants, high school head and assistant coaches and athletic trainers.
    • Applicant must have the head coach of each sport (including sports medicine or sideline or competiton cheer) he/she participated in his/her senior year submit an evaluation online prior to the application deadline of midnight on Monday, March 30, 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted and will cause the application to be ineligible. 
    • Eligibility requirements maybe waived or adjusted to accomodate special circumstances or special needs. An explanation must be provided in the appropriate area of the application.

    SELECTION COMMITTEE

    The Fairmont Athletic Booster Scholarship Selection Committee will consist of three (3) members of the Kettering Fairmont Hall of Fame Committee. The Fairmont Athletic Booster Scholarship Selection Committee will be selected by and presided over by the Fairmont Athletic Booster Vice President unless he/she has an eligible senior student athletic. If this is the case, another Fairmont Athletic Booster officer will sit in his/her place.

    An alternate member after initial selection of the Selection Committee may be appointed by the Fairmont Athletic Booster Vice President should a member be unable to fulfill his/her commitment. No voting member of the Selection Committee shall be related to a senior Fairmont student.

    AWARD DISTRIBUTION

    A letter and plaque will be presented to the scholarship recipients at the Fairmont Scholar Athlete Awards program held in April/May each year. Disbursements of funds will be paid directly to the post-secondary institution without exception. It is each recipient's responsibility to present written documentation of acceptance and matriculation with the student athlete's student identification number to a post-secondary educational institution to the Fairmont Athletic Boosters Treasurer (fab.treasurer@ketteringschools.org). If the student owes no tuition for his/her first year of post-secondary education he/she is NOT eligible for the Fairmont Athletic Booster scholarship.

    The deadline for awards collection is October 1 of the year of graduation from Fairmont High School. After this date, any uncollected awards funds will be returned to the Fairmont Athletic Booster's general scholarship fund.

    SCHOLARSHIP PROCESS

    • Obtain the URL to the Fairmont Athletic Booster Scholarship package. 
    • Complete the application including the essay and submit online with a letter of recommendation on or before the deadline of midnight on Monday, March 30, 2026.
    • Request that all head coaches and/or advisors complete an evaluation for each sport or activity (i.e. sports medicine, sideline or competition cheer) the applicant partcipated in his/her senior year. EX: Sam Jones plays football, wrestles and plays baseball; he will need three coach evaluations submitted on his behalf before the due date.
    • Each applicant's completed application, letter of recommendation and coach evaluations will be forwarded to the selection committee for review and grading without identifying marks.
    • Selection committee members will grade the essay question along with the content of the application without knowledge of the name of the applicant. All identifying information will be redacted. The grading will be based on content, quality, the following of directions, grammar and spelling.
    • The Selection Committee is authorized to award up to ten (10) scholarships in 2026, if the applications' scores warrant. The total expenditure cannot exceed $10,000.

    This letter must be from someone outside of the Fairmont Athletic Department such as a principal, counselor, teacher, youth group leader, employer, etc. Members of the Fairmont Athletic Department include the athletic director, assistant athletic directors, athletic department administrative assistants, high school head and assistant coaches and trainers.

  • “Grit” is the current mantra for the Fairmont Athletic Department. Kettering Fairmont has a rich legacy due to the contributions of the many Firebird athletes who have contributed to the program over the years.

    Applications without a signed verification statement will not be accepted.

  • I meet all eligibility criteria and the information provided in this application is true and correct. I agree that any disputes which may arise with respect to eligibility of applicants, amounts of scholarships, and any other matters, including any issues of law or fact, are to be settled by the Selection Committee, whose judgment in all cases will be finally determinative. I have not missed any athletic activities during this, my senior year, due to school authority or coach suspension.
